New 6.5-284 Norma getting high pressure signs with low velocity? Using Lapua brass, H4350, Berger 140VLD ( gun is reamed for VLD ) FED 215 M , 0.001 neck tension, + +.010 Jammed, Seening pressure signs over 47.5 gr H4350 2756 FPS means on 6 shot group 0.230 group @ 100yds and 30 rounds down the tube. Would like to stick with H4350 do to a 7# buy and 140 VLD it's been the go too for 6.5-284 for a long time. Would like to see 49.0-49.5 gr of H4350 @2880+ FPS Need more speed to get 1000yds Don't Know what I'm doing wrong with H4350 not to get FPS.

That does sound odd. I'm using the 140VLD in a 260 with 43.5gr of H4350 and getting 2878FPS in a 26" barrel. You should be smoking me by at least 100FPS. Exactly what are you seeing for pressure signs?

What chronograph do you have? Unless you are using a high end one like an Oehler, or magnetospeed, you are probably not getting accurate info and it would be better to just shoot for drops and adjust your velocity as the 140 VLD has a long track record and its true BC has been proven many a times. That's strange. Maybe try not jamming them into the rifling. Sometimes that can cause some weird pressure issues.
