6.5-284 build (pain in my *** stock)

Well, she's somewhat finished.

I'll probably wait till next year to upgrade the stock, due to me not finding one I really care for. And price of new one. But she started out as a ttkka .243 and is now a 6.5-284 topped with a vx5hd, warne low rings, and a night force 20moa base

Barrel is an xcaliber 26inch 1:7 6groove #3 contour

Now.... before we start critiquing my "professional,"new barrel contour inlet...I just want you to know, I already know lol...also pain in my ***.

But I do want to thank livetohunt for his input and help on advice while I did this.

The heavy Sporter barrel is a tad bigger than their standard so I had to mill down the barrel channel a bit.

I first started (not thinking how hard it would be) with a block of 1"x5/8" wood wrapped with 150grit sand paper. I hand sanded for over an hour. Hands were cramping, but it was doing the job. Not very fast though.

So then I went to cal ranch, picked up a few grinder bits for my drill. I used each one to grind down the edges and even part of the block down in. In the picture it doesn't look the prettiest by all means but, it's still sturdy as was before. I took my file to the edges to kick off any excess plastic. Then took some sand paper and hand sanded smooth.

I'll be bedding the action sometime this weekend.

Going to be loading 143eldx with RL19 and see how fast we can get her.

So your practicing with the tupperware stock? Have you checked for forearm flex? Getting compound to stick to this type of stock for any length of time is a fairly difficult task. A nice alternative https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product-configurator/ Want an aluminum bedding block stock?

Looks good! I have a Tikka varmint in 22-250 with its factory stock. It shoots great.

My .270 WSM, T3 Tikka SS Lite shoots great, too ! Make sure the recoil lug, is STEEL and in the slot, tightly and the Barrel is free floated from, the Shank forward ( ours were touching barrel sides when, New). When Glass Bedding, I ALWAYS bed the Shank almost to the Radius to help "support", the barrel. Torque carefully and shoot it ! My sons 7mm-08 T3X, shoots about, 1/2 MOA or less and mine averages, 3/4 MOA ( but I'm old LOL !) Despite all, the so called, "Tupperware, Naysayers", the factory stocked, Tikka's,.. SHOOT,.. well, with minor adjustments !

Yea I checked. Not much flex at all. I didn't have to shave much either. Went from a factory .635 to a .670. had to mostly takeoff by the shank
