6.5×280 Ackley Improved

Hey guys,

I am currently building a 6.5X280 AI and I am looking for load data. I am considering starting with IMR-4831/H-4831, and I will most likely be shooting either a Berger VLD 140, ELD-X 143, or an ELD-M 147. Any information helps whether it's with 4831 or any of the listed bullets or not. Thank you!

look at the sherman loading data for the 6.5 sherman and start with a few grains less and work up you can also find some 6.5-06 AI load data just use the search up at the top right of the screen I run rl-23 in mine

That should scream. I haven't done the 6.5 ai but my 280 AI loves H4831SC and Reloder 22. Keep us posted.

Friend has built a lot of 6.5-280AI s, most likely 15-20, and they ve run H1000 for years. R26, 7828, etc will all give good performance also. I think the 4831 s would also be good; might give up a little velocity to the slower burners though.

For my 6.5 Sherman, N570 and a 140 Berger yielded 3339 FPS. Barrel is a 28" Hart.

Yes, looking for load data with 140gr bullets as well as Hornady's 143 eld-x and 147 eld-m if he happened to have any.

I ll check what he's running with 143,147 and 150 MK. He shoots mostly 147 and 150 s

Loading 58-59 grs with 150 MK. Said 58 is better on the brass. Might get a grain more with the 143 bullet. I d work up as it s a stout load. 2900-2950 ish depending on barrel.

R26 has shown promise too but at a couple grs less, he didn't have that load data handy. Good luck
