hello,
i have a 5.56x42 barrrel and i'm trying to prep some brass. some people have had luck using a 224 valkyrie die, held up off the shell holder to neck down the 6.8 brass in one step with imperial sizing wax. the annealed shoulders of the primed brass i plan to use appears too soft and the case is crushed in the process no matter how careful i am in the attempt (i have had success doing this with fired hornady 6.8 brass, but the primed hornady S&B produced i'm working with here is too soft unfired). so is there another die i could use as an intermediary in the process to neck down in two steps vs. one? i think i've read of one person using a 243 or 25 wssm die for this purpose, but not certain. does anyone have a better suggestion? i'm trying to avoid buying a bunch of bushings and introducing more steps than necessary.
thanks!
