Time to have some fun! Anybody have any recommendations on what powder to use and a good place to start when loading those 35gr hammers into an AR15? I've got a 5.56 1:8 twist 20" barrel. I decided to try these after I blew up some 50gr Vmax at 3400 fps with CFE223. The Federal 55gr XM193 were doing almost the same velocity so I don't feel like the 50gr are buying me anything if I have to reduce the velocity to keep them together... I'm looking for max velocity based on some other data I've seen I'm hoping to be around 3700 fps.

I am loading the 30 cal into my 1:10 twist 22" Savage 110 30-06. I've seen the collected load data for the 178gr using Hybrid 100V that I will try out. I'm not totally sure what to try or where to start with the 101gr. Hopefully @ButterBean can help me out. I know he is using Varget in his RUM I'm just not sure if that would also be a good choice in my '06. I'm currently running the 190gr Nosler ABLR with H4350. I'm getting about 3/4" groups with them going just a hair under 2800fps. Looking at the load data I'm hoping to break 3000 fps with the 178gr and 3700 fps with the 101gr (of course at a node that also produces good precision).

Start @ 55g and work up from there

I haven't tried the 35gr 5.56 yet, but as a follow up I tried the 101gr Hammers in my 22" Savage 110 in 30-06 with Varget. Per ButterBean's advice I used 55gr as my start point. Looks like I have room to try going even higher. The primers, bolt lift and lack of ejector mark were all looking great even at 57.7gr.

For what it's worth, I had pretty good luck with the 178gr Absolute hammers using Hybrid 100V.
