Well I finaly got some testing done and so far I am
very happy it looks like this beast will shoot.

Recoil is around 65ftlbs with 400gr bullets and 60
ftlbs with 350 gr bullets so 40 or 50 rounds of
testing is enough at one time.

Also after 3 shots the barrel starts heating up (the
reason for 3 shot groups instead of 5).

All loads are below max for ease of extraction.

Have tried to post pictures pictures of groups
but could'nt so will wing it.

All groups are 3 shot @ 100yrds.

"Worst" group so far has been .558 using
a 400gr Barnes x
MV=2587 ftpsec and a SD of 9
With 101gr of H4831sc & a rem 91/2 mag primer

350 grain barnes triple shock load produced
a .480 group @ 2711 ft per sec
SD=11 using 103grs of H4831sc

But saving the best for last !!
The 400gr barnes triple shock
with 102grs H4831sc shot a .031
group at 2594ftsec MV
And the SD was 6(The best group I have
ever fired)

I was very impressed and so was two other shooters
that witnessed it so I took 4 readings to be sure
The readings were .440 , .445 , .447 & .444 so I
used the .447 just to be safe (.447-.416= .031

Had to be some luck involved but so what I was even thrilled
with the .558 group.

Next test will be with H1000
will post results and pictures of these
targets if posible.

P.S Original posting is under HANDLOADING
under 416 BUFF page 21 or 22.

Sorry about the pictures photobucket is down.

.031 is a hell of a group from any gun much less one that kicks like a small intercontinental ballistic missle. Good shooting.

Thanks Eddybo

It was probably just luck but I will repeat the test
to see.

If I can find the right powder and get 100% case density
it should bump velocity a little. But I'm happy with the
velocity now .

loading is straight forward and brass is not to expensive
(.57 cents a piece.

I hope this answers some of the questions that
Victor,Pop & Dgr 416 asked.

Thanks again.

Me think's I'd stop load development right there and go find a Buff to put in the freezer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
