My name is Leroy. This right here is my brother Leroy. An over there be my other brother Leroy. lol The 338 Edge is a fine cartridge. The fact that it uses a case allowing for a standard magnum bolt face, makes it a more desirable choice than others in my opinion. The cartridges having a case with a larger head, need an action with a larger diameter bolt, at least in my opinion. My son has a 338x378, built on a 995 Saco 3 lug action. Saco offered that model in 30x378 and 338 Lapua, but not for a very long period. His velocity with a 300 gr bullet is very close to 3000 fps. At 1500 yards, the 300 gr Berger, and the 285 Hornady will land in the same place with the same number of clicks. I have no doubt that a 250 gr would be pretty much the same at that distance. My son can load his ammo on any standard loading press, same as you can with an Edge, or a Lapua. I needed to buy a 50 caliber size press in order to load for my Big Baer. And i needed custom made dies, a new trimmer, and a new priming tool. Of coarse our separate depriming press and die wont work for that either. I have to knock the old ones out with a long punch. As for the hunting, there is the real world, and then there is our dream world. But we can if we choose, use the dream world guns at real world distances. lol Otherwise they might never get used, at least for hunting. Get the picture?
