I going to re-barrel my 700 MLR to a 338 Lapua Improved. This is my first big-bore build. I am looking for suggestions for muzzle brakes. Thanks in advance.

I have one of Kirby Allen's 3 port "Pain Killer" brakes on my 338 LM IMP, tames it down to about a 25-06. It's a 16lb rifle and you can ALMOST let it free recoil.

You might want to rethink a 338 LM IMPROVED on a Rem 700 action, a lot of smiths won't do it.

I have used a couple of Ross Schuler's brakes. They are very similar to the Holland QD brake.

They really tame down the two 338 Edges I've used them on.

Here is one on my current 338 Edge.

Seem to be getting alot of plusses for muscle brake.

Dirtball... I was thinking the MLR was a bigger stronger 700 should I stick with the standard lapua??

I am NOT a Gunsmith, just going by what I have read SEVERAL times, posted by Kirby and others, do a search on this site and you should be able to read what has been said and why.
