338 Edge Information

Hello,

I am thinkng of doing a 338 Edge on my Hall repeater and may be magazine length limited. Anyway, I was wonderig what you guys have for an overall bullet length with a 225gr Nosler Accubond seated into the lands. Thanks in advance.

The reamers I use have no throat cut so I can set it at any usable length you want. You can run between 3.640" and 3.850" with the 225 NAB.

What About the 300smk.

You can run the 300 SMK from 3.600" to around 4.050" OAL. It is kind of funny but alot make a big deal about increased capacity by seating the bullet out as far as possible, but the velocity difference on a case this large is minimal. I only saw an increase of about 35 fps going from 3.600" to over 4.000", it took about 3 grains more powder but you just don't get much for it in larger cases. If you can get the oal around 3.750-3.800" on a Remington action you can make them feed easier. With a different box etc.
