Playing with this idea in my head. I'm trying to poke holes in the idea of using a 33 nosler case to build a couple of wildcats. It's a touch shorter case than the 30 or 28 nosler, shorter case making it more ideal for long heavy copper bullets such as the Hammers without excessive OAL.
The idea being , 40 degree shoulder angle 33 nos case in an 8mm /270/7mm maybe a seriously overboard 25 or 6.5. It's fully possible that this is a really dumb idea and I'm just missing something. Just wanted to get some feedback.

I like the idea but I'll say from experience the 30 nosler with a 4 inch Wyatt's box will do it all. It will run the 230 berger to the lands with room to spare.

FWIW, I think this case (33 nos) is just about ideal for a big 7, 30 and 33. While the 26 nosler is really overbore, a 6.5-33 nosler would still be moving plenty fast with a 156 berger or heavy hammer but possibly not quite the barrel burner. Same would go for a 7-33 nosler being a very effective round.

I'm acutally wanting to go the other way with a 33-28 Nosler but I don't think it would have the horse power to get the 300's over 2800ish.

Hoping to achieve it with a standard AI style mag, I believe it's 3.850" now ? And some of those hammer projectiles are extremely long. 1.7" ish ? If length could be achieved, the 300 PRC or 30 nos would be a better choice.

Too much hassle, expense and anxiety....I hardly think any animal will know the difference being hit with a 33nosler or a plain Jane 338WM....just too much baggage for my liking.

there is not a big difference in usable case capacity between the 28 and 33 nosler cases when you limit the OAL to the AI mags which is 3.750 inside, 3.850 is outside.

87.gr 33 case
89. gr 28 case

now if you were limited to factory mag around 3.6 or less, then the 33 case would help. you also will have to deal with brass issues with 33 case
now dont let the neysayers steer you away if this your goal, it is always the same few that will say IT DONT DO ANYTHING THAT BLA BLA BLA DONT DO.
personally i love wildcats and forming my own brass from parent cases its only time and money

take the 33 nosler brass, and make a 35 or 37 wildcat lol.

only as far as there is only one manufacture of it unless someone else picks it up. now if people have the equipment to reform from 28 or 30 that changes things.
I personally think that the 33 case is the perfect case for use in unmodified actions with OAL limits
