308 with SRP Magnum

Ive got a 1000 CCI 450s SRPM and want to put them to good use. Ive already got SRP 6.5 Creedmoor brass. I ordered some SRP 308 brass and will use these for hunting and target.

Anyone have luck loading SRP 308?

Not sure it will make a meaningful difference on target unless you stretch a well built 308 out and match the brass with something like the Berger 200.20X. The point of it was to help uniform velocity stats at 1K yards. 43gn of Varget, Berger 200, send it.

Check out Hodgdon LEVERevolution powder. I saw a substantial increase in velocity on bullet weights from 169 sierra match king to 200 grain bergers.

Thanks! I have 1000 pcs of SRPM primers so want to put them to use with 308. I plan on loading 178 grain ELD-X.

I use SRP in 243 and 6.5 CM, specifically the CCI-450s you have and they've been just fine. Don't expect anything special to come from it, but it won't be any worse either.

What recipe did you use for 168 and 175-180?

I looked up the load data for the 307 Winchester. Since it is smaller internally than a 308 I added 2 grains to the max load and started there with 42.5. With with various weights of bullets, I worked up to 48.5 grains. I use the 450 primer since I think magnum primers work better with ball powder.

Aa2460 works well also. 18" 308 bolt gun get 3100 FPS with 130 Barnes TTSX. I've got some LVR and 150 Badlands to test as well.

I'm using CCI 450's in SRP .308 and 6.5CM. I have some 150 BD2 loaded up with LVR to test, maybe today.

I always had very good luck with Varget and the 178 Amax and the 168 ELDM. Alpha states to start low with powder charges and to work up as the brass is more stout than most others.
