dears, hope this is the right section.
i got 2 boxes of the same production lot of Barnes LRX 175 for my custom 300wsm, it is the usual bullet i use. during a range session i saw something strange on the target and i found that most of the bullets had the blue tip uncoaxial with the copper body. hope pictures are clear.
after that i stopped to use the bullets of these boxes.
by the way for brownells (where i bought the bullets) this isn't an issue, and barnes hadn't replied.
considering 1:10 and an MV of 930m/s, i can't say it isn't an issue.
have you experienced something like this?

regards

I had the same issue with some 25 cal barnes. Emailed them and never got a reply. I went to TSX and never looked back. TSX are hard to come by right now. Got tighter groups also. Never noticed it till one rolled across my bench one day. I also got a box of 7mm that had several tip broken off! Didn't hear back from Barnes on that issue either. Try emailing Sierra bullets about it as they bought Barnes Bullets and are better about answering. Funny, 2 years ago I asked Sierra if they planned to do a Monolithic bullet because they were getting left behind and they said no and here they have bought Barnes. Good folks at Sierra.
I've ordered some Hammer sample packs to test and if it works out, I'll be done with Barnes.

thnx to both.
at 300m i had some erratic impacts, at least in comparison with the usual results.

i didn't like neither the silence of barnes nor the vendor answer.

i think i'll come back to the hornady gmx.

I have seen that several times with LRX/TTSX. I never felt it hindered accuracy. They all shot 1/2MOA or slightly better out to hunting ranges with good handloading practices.

Picked up some 7mm 120 gr ttsx recently that had straight tips. Still gonna test some hammers though since Barnes can't supply bullets.
