300 wsm twist

what is the best twist for a 300 wsm for long range (500/1000) and what bullet is better 180's,200's,220's. i'm going to rebarrel my savage and need some help on what barrel, length, and twist to get. i was thinking a 27" 10 twist from sharp shooter supplies

A ten twist in whatever length you want. I would stay with the 175-200gr projectiles with the WSM.

A 10 twist will shoot anything from a 100gr to 220gr.

I have 3 LR WSMs and shooting them for 4 yrs and for standard bullets the 11 twist is the way to go.

The WSM shines with bullets UP to 210 grain. The 180, 190 and 200s shoot super. I would not go to a 220, too heavy for the case and no need to with the good 190, 200s and 210s.

You can use a 10 twist but the 11 works better I think. I started with a 10 twist and it just would not get under 6" at 1000 with either 190s or 210s. My 11 and 12 twists will.

The 12 twist is set for 187 Bibs but will shoot 210s also extremely accurately.
