Hey you guys my friend is going out west and has been doing long range shooting for a while but wanted to know what you all would use for 1000 yard shots for the .300 winchester mag. If you could tell me what grain powder, grain bullet, brand, etc etc to really get this down. Thanks.

I am using two different loads and bullets of the same weight. I do not have enough barrel length to take advantage of the 210+ gr bullets, so I am using the 190 gr SMK and Berger VLDs.

69 gr IMR 4350 GM210M 190 gr SMK 2920 fps
74 gr RL 22 RP9.5M 190 gr Berger VLD 2957 fps

What is he trying to shoot? Animals or paper? As far as load it dependss on what his gun likes best, but a good temp insensitive powder like Hodgen's Extremes is where I would start. As for bullets the 210gr Berger and JLK, the 190gr Berger, 190 and 220gr SMK and the 178gr AMAX are some good ones.

He is shooting paper...he hadnt tried as far as a hundred but wondered what the rest of you use to get your best groups if you reload...how many grains of what powder, bullet weight, brand, etc then he can go from there. Thanks for the responses so far.

Is there any reason you skipped the 200 gr. SMK? Just curious.

I dont think it offers enough of a BC gain for ten grains of weight added. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif And truthfully I havent really tried them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
