Hello friends, i recently acquired a Mark v in 300 bee and have been getting acclimated to it. I have purchased a good amount of ammo from the local shops ( all very dusty)
And the rifle shoots well. Some of
The boxes list the 180 trophy bonded bear claw at 3300fps! i have not
Chronographed anything yet. I have looked around our site here and found a few promising loads that are claimed to approach weatherby velocities. Does anybody here care to share they're experiences with handloading the 300 weatherby? Are you getting claimed velocities? The hornady and nosler books i have do not approach the weatherby claimed velocities . As always gang Thanx in advance.

I had a 300Bee in a vanguard,24 inch blued bbl n action ,changed out the stock trigger for a Timney had a synthetic stock ,loaded 150's,165,168 , may be some 180's ,190's no 200'sor heavier ,had a home made brake installed it help but there's better ones made now ,also reload for my 1st Cousins Winchester md70 push feed 300 Bee , mostly 165 Barnes x bullets sptizers & boatails ,go to powders are Imr 4831 & Reloader 22 ,brass is either Weatherby. Factory which is Norma Or Remington brass , have loading data for both ,& have Cronographed both ,lots of great powders out now it's a great round for sure .cheers

My advice is to forget trying to reproduce Wby factory ammo. I never chronied any factory loads but I did for all of my hand loads and I never got close to what wby claims they get. With 190gr bullets, my best loads are with H1000. People will tell you Norma MRP is what Wby uses, it's not. MRP is very temp. sensitive and can and has failed to burn at -15F for me. 7828sc, Magnum, also shoot well in my 300.

I use to run the Speere 190gr grand Slams with IMR 4350,,, I'd load up a bunch at different charges and find the one that produced the tightest group,,, just a fraction less then the velocities that the Weatherby ammo was getting...

Good enough to flatten the tires on all of North American critters I tagged...

No need to over think it with that pipe in hand,,, they definitely Rattle the furry wrappers... Ha

Cheers from the North

OP just 1.5 weeks back their was a post about the 300 (BEE) Weatherby maybe 2.5 weeks try a serch it's worth the read .Cheers sorry I'm not that forum savy !Can someone provide that thread ,Please thks in advance :);):D

I've got an old German made Mark V Weatherby, and have been doing handloads for it for years. Forget what Weatherby posts for velocity, you simply won't achieve it. My suggestion is to find what powder and bullet your rifle likes and work up a load to find a node that will provide the best accuracy. My load is approximately 200 fps less than what Weatherby lists as FPS. The important thing is that I'm getting .5 Moa consistently. Too many people focus on FPS when they should be focused on MOA.
