Wby's are usually very accurate I have yet to shoot one that I couldn't get 3/4 moa out of. I did the shooting for a shop in the 80's an early 90's for load development and accuracy. The most puzzling thing I found out back then was that the canoe paddle savages would almost always be the best shooting guns to go through the shop. These were not even bought at the shop but at K-Mart for I think 199 with sling, scope and glasses plugs etc. Most of the guys would bring in there Mark V's saying that something was wrong because they couldn't get it to shoot into 4" at 100 yds. I don't remember one that had a problem but we would bed them and shoot them anyway. Usually the fierce muzzle blast and recoil created a flinch after the first box of ammo. The rest is self explanatory. The other thing was this my 300wby classic made by Rem. had some of the checkering missing on the right side of the forearm. I was told by the owner that Rem did this to mark the guns that were special meaning squared etc. I never met anyone that could confirm this. Anyone ever hear of such a thing??? I thought Dan was yanking my chain so if you have any information otherwise I'd love to hear it
