Hi guys,

Up to now 180grs and H1000 gave me excellent results for years.

Never tried heavier bullet so just for fun to do more shooting I bought a box of 215 hybrid.

Question is what do you think should be the best powder for accuracy H1000 or Retumbo?

With this bullet is there a proven velocity node to look for?

Thank for your help, Mart

I am using 81gr. of H1000 in my Mark V the OAL 3.655. I am getting 2906 fps out of a 26" tube.

I have been shooting the 300 WBY for many, many years, and as far as loading for it, I have done at least a dozen of my own and that many again for my "customers". When I started in 1000 IBS Benchrest I shot a 17 lb 300 WBY in both LG and HG. And did very, very well. Back then breaks were not alowed in the HG class so a 10 shot string was fairly punishing to put it mildly....not to mention the heat buildup. So, for comp I moved to the dasher and the WSM in my 85 pound HG. They were cheaper to shoot and much easier on tubes....not to mention better bag manners!!!

On top of that I am an eternal and cumpulsive tinkerer..so every time something new came out, or a new "secret recipy" came along, I was right there at the loading/shooting bench. RL 25 was, without a doubt, the most accurate powder in the 300 WBY/300 AI case size. I know that many other compediters had the same idea.

That being said, and without a doubt (because I tried and tried), NOTHING was more accurate than RL 25. Now, to be honest, I never shot anything lighter than a 210 Berger...for any reason.\

So, for what it is worth...210+ grain bullets with Fed 215 primers and RL 25!!

Good luck,
Tod
