SOLD/EXPIRED 300 Rum brass for sale

Thankfully I have no dog in this fight but do find this very interesting.

Just for clarification, after your last post where you decided to speak up, I see that the original price for the brass is still there. Does that mean after all has been done and said you feel just in the price it's listed for? If so, best of luck to you. Again, i'm just curious as you don't really address the underlying theme that's been discussed politely and not so politely.

I'm amazed at the attention $2.25 brass is getting. I've been paying $2 plus shipping for a brand of brass I would normally never buy and been happy to come by it. The other day Norma brass became available at Sinclair/Brownells and was gone within a day. I was lucky enough to get some of that for $189.00. Cant remember if that included shipping or not. There are a lot of people who really want Remington brass and that stuff is nonexistent any more. Now while I believe $2.25 is high for once fired brass I can tell you if I was in need of the stuff I would buy it without hesitation and never look back. Its called supply and demand. If your interested in his brass PM the guy and dicker with him. I'm sure he's negotiable.

Hey Guys,
I really wouldn't have posted at that price had I known better! I can see that I'm out of touch concerning the value of this brass-what is a fair price? Thank you to the kind and helpful responses!
Tom
Thanks blackdog-I had intended to clarify things and re-post a new price, just got caught up in what I was wanting to say.

After much advice, I've settled $185 as the sales price.

Exactly.
Ill keep my opinion neutral. Reloading for 4-Sendero 300RUM's (family and close friends) I have felt the crunch of "no brass" so much so that I took my frustration to the source, Remington, in early January.
After asking the question over and over again of Remingtons staff, whom all remained very professional and polite, did I finally get transfered to the "production floor" at which time I spoke with yet another very courteous person.
With all the noise in the backround, he took the time to sort thru some papers and told me that 300 RUM ammo was set to run in Feb-March but that is always subject to change.
Here is where it gets interesting. He then went on to say he was the the Shift Supervisor and its the Manager that makes the call on whether or not they stay tooled up to run brass "after" the ammo run. He further stated that he has not heard one comment about a shortage of 300 RUM brass and it would be his guess they would not stay tooled up and run brass only.
This information seems to stay in alignment with the recent bits of RUM ammo showing up around these parts, but what is not known is if they ran the brass or not?
This is not second hand information, it was relayed directly to me.
I only pass this info on to let those of us decide what to do when it comes to paying whatever price you think you should.
Now for opinions, before I bought any 1X fired Id be concerned that it is in fact once fired, and what load specs were used.
I am NOT implying anything regarding the OP's sale ad.
Specifically, we run anywhere from 89.9-90.2 grains of H1000 or Retumbo and the primer pockets start to get loose around the the third firing, seldom do they make it passed 5 total firings, but they shoot so darn good in this area, we just let the brass become part of the cost of using this caliber. (Remington brass)
I will not purchase another 300 RUM until this brass issue rights itself and I could get my hands on 300-500 new cases. Sad, but its the truth.
Good luck everyone, and I hope this helps let anyone decide on what is fair pricing.

The brass is FACTORY LOADS once fired! I actually have 98 of once fired and 8 new.
$185 shipped

Why people get their panties all wadded up is beyond me! My example:
New SEB rest $1040 with a year wait.
I bought 2 over the last 6 months and paid $1275 and $1360 for them USED! If someone has something you CAN'T find and they don't want to necessarily sale it but will if they get enough out of it then an above average price is warranted. don't like it don't buy it or keep waiting for another deal. No one cares when it's the other way????? what if I am hurt for money and the market sucks... Should the rest of the community of shooters that all love the forum and this sport just give me more for it? because it should be worth more but the market just isn't supporting it currently? When I see that happen it will change my mind til then leave the man be.

Ahh but...

A SEB rest does not deteriorate with use (much). Is a rare high quality item to begin with and will probably appreciate over time..

This brass is not of select choice quality, not a dig at boscodog, just a fact. Higher quality is available at a lesser price than originally posted. Is a consumable that looses value with each use.

Now, if boscodog would explain how he got the brass, what he paid and his original intent, maybe there would have been less backlash.

Example:

I paid less for loaded Remington Premier copper that is lights out in my rifle. I initially bought it for the brass but when it shot I used it and will save it for hunting.

If I decided to sell the brass instead of reloading it, I would price it at 4/5 of retail regardless of availability because I got my 1/5 of use out of a consumable item.

If boscodog wants to price his brass as high as he thinks he can get, good for him. It's a free country. Keeping with the free country theme, if his potential customers push back, they have that right as well.

Being "free" only means that you will not be prevented from doing, not that there will be no consequences for what you do.

I was down to 6 working cases for my 270 AM.

I thought long and hard, checked them very carefully, winced, paced, bout peed my pants, kicked the dog, walked around the block, murmured some bad words, had some nasty thoughts.......then.....shelled out 60 bucks for 60 once fired cases.

I'm gonna lose sleep over that deal until I find that they work ok.

They were shot out of a Rem 700 and it is obvious that the chamber was/is a bit out of round. That's the risk one takes........

WOW! EASY FOLKS!!! I have subscribed to this forum for a couple of years now, because it has seemed to be the most user friendly...but now, I'm not so sure. Such vitriol has usually come from the "sniper forums" where real police and military snipers are infiltrated by the "wanna bees". I recently posted a WTB ad and requested PM's because I KNEW this kind of behavior was lying in wait...ready to pounce on the first guy who made an honest mistake. I have seen it before, but is has been much less of an occurrence in this forum, than on some of the other ones.

I posted a request for PM's so I and the sellers could negotiate without ridicule from the folks that are very well intentioned, but may not be suffering from the same conditions or consequences that we, personally endure.

I truly appreciate the knowledge-base and experience that resides here and I intentionally do not post anything that might offend someone: however, I did that a few days ago, unintentionally, I might add...and, well I apologized and hopefully that matter is resolved...?

Back off of BOSCODOG, he has a product that is in scarce supply. Like someone else posted earlier, folks have posted a need and he posted the price that he was willing to sell it for...you, or anyone else can refuse to buy it. That will take care of itself...it is called the free market.

I know this more of a blog and the folks who need to, won't read it...but I really don't care. I will remain a "junior member" or non-member if this is how people are treated when responding to a need...

I'm/was not raggin' on BOSCODOG just presenting the "feeling" that being old and 'tight' I'd quit driving if gas went to $4.00.

It's a supply and demand world and we/I live in it.

Also when it comes to money, it's pretty much like oxygen, the more the faster the better. :)

It simply irks me to have to run a high dollar hunting/shooting experience on a budget.:roll eyes:

What is something really worth? Put it in the perspective of there ya are, on the mountain, the quarry you've been scouting/hunting for for several years, that you finally drew a tag for, and there he is about 725 yards away, weather is perfect, then.....what are your components worth......Just say'n.

BTW, I pay upwards of $4.00 each for some if my cases.....
