Exactly.
Ill keep my opinion neutral. Reloading for 4-Sendero 300RUM's (family and close friends) I have felt the crunch of "no brass" so much so that I took my frustration to the source, Remington, in early January.
After asking the question over and over again of Remingtons staff, whom all remained very professional and polite, did I finally get transfered to the "production floor" at which time I spoke with yet another very courteous person.
With all the noise in the backround, he took the time to sort thru some papers and told me that 300 RUM ammo was set to run in Feb-March but that is always subject to change.
Here is where it gets interesting. He then went on to say he was the the Shift Supervisor and its the Manager that makes the call on whether or not they stay tooled up to run brass "after" the ammo run. He further stated that he has not heard one comment about a shortage of 300 RUM brass and it would be his guess they would not stay tooled up and run brass only.
This information seems to stay in alignment with the recent bits of RUM ammo showing up around these parts, but what is not known is if they ran the brass or not?
This is not second hand information, it was relayed directly to me.
I only pass this info on to let those of us decide what to do when it comes to paying whatever price you think you should.
Now for opinions, before I bought any 1X fired Id be concerned that it is in fact once fired, and what load specs were used.
I am NOT implying anything regarding the OP's sale ad.
Specifically, we run anywhere from 89.9-90.2 grains of H1000 or Retumbo and the primer pockets start to get loose around the the third firing, seldom do they make it passed 5 total firings, but they shoot so darn good in this area, we just let the brass become part of the cost of using this caliber. (Remington brass)
I will not purchase another 300 RUM until this brass issue rights itself and I could get my hands on 300-500 new cases. Sad, but its the truth.
Good luck everyone, and I hope this helps let anyone decide on what is fair pricing.
I'm amazed at the attention $2.25 brass is getting. I've been paying $2 plus shipping for a brand of brass I would normally never buy and been happy to come by it. The other day Norma brass became available at Sinclair/Brownells and was gone within a day. I was lucky enough to get some of that for $189.00. Cant remember if that included shipping or not. There are a lot of people who really want Remington brass and that stuff is nonexistent any more. Now while I believe $2.25 is high for once fired brass I can tell you if I was in need of the stuff I would buy it without hesitation and never look back. Its called supply and demand. If your interested in his brass PM the guy and dicker with him. I'm sure he's negotiable.
