300 RUM Bertram Brass

I tried Remington and got split necks in two firings. I read mixed things on Bertram consistency as far as weight goes so I didn't ever try it. I have had great luck in 300 RUM with Nosler brass.

I use Bertram in 3 different calibers but not 300 rum. if you want pretty weight sorted and prepped brass this is not for you. if you don't mind doing a little prep and sorting for capacity after firing and want a brass that will hold up and not lose primers under upper level loads Bertram will work for you.
my 338 rum brass from them will outlast anything out there. easily make 10 reloads with pretty warm loads

I'm not real picky, I'm pretty new to reloading. I have Travis at rbros putting a new barrel on my RUM and plan to use it for long range out to 1000yards. I see Bertram is on sale right now for a good price and I already have some Norma but am thinking about using Bertram on this new barrel.

when you decide on your brass don't develop your load with Bertram and then try to use it in Norma or ADG brass you will loose primer pockets quickly. develop loads for each brass separately Bertram will take more pressure and more velocity

Thank you for the advice! I just ordered 200 pieces at $135/100, that should keep me busy for awhile!

Price and hearing that it can handle higher pressures are the driving factors on it. $135 for 100 pieces of brass is pretty good for a RUM

I have not had good luck with Bertram brass. It lasts a long time, but it is very inconsistent.

I would be surprised that Bertram would be better/tougher than ADG. I have not loaded Bertram 300 RUM brass, but my friend bought some HSM factory ammo loaded with Bertram brass. 3 of the 20 rounds have broke off neck pieces on virgin brass.

You need to ask Travis what neck diameter his reamer is. Norma and Nosler seem to be on the thinner side. While ADG seems to run a little thicker necks. A friend tried ADG and didn't have enough neck clearance. Had to switch back to Nosler

Something odd there. I've been using Remington brass in a RUM for 18 years. Never had a split neck. Even on some cases with 5 firings. Looked at Bertram cause of the price. mtmuley
Jim Borden would backup that statement about Remington brass for the 300 RUM too.
