This was my new 300 NMI. 215 grain Berger at 2950 FPS from a 22" barrel, suppressed. 1550 yards at a 14" plate. First shot after shooting the same plate at 975 and 1200 yards.

Can you explain your thought process on why you would build a 300 NMI on a 22 inch barrel with a suppressor vs a 32 inch barrel with a suppressor? If speed of the bullet wasn't a concern why wouldn't you just build a straight 300 NM on a 22 inch barrel suppressed? Why go through all the extra fire forming load development wasted barrel life? Good shooting BTW!

My goal was to push a 215 grain bullet at 2950-3000 with as short of a barrel as I could go. TBAC recommended no shorter than a 22" barrel for their suppressor. The improved got me where I wanted to be speed wise. Fireforming isn't a big deal. My friend built my rifle and we use an old shot out barrel for fireforming.

What powder are you running in the short barrel? Great performance in that short barrel
