Hey guys I have a question about Hornady's 5th edition loadbook. I have the 5th edition and it tells me a 300 H&H max load with a 180 is 59.7 grns or IMR 4350 or so at 2700 or so fps. I have a book just for the 300 H&H that has Hornadys 4th edition that lists the same powder at 67.7 grns and 3000 fps for the 180 . Also this book contains loads from bullet mfctrs. and Lyman tested with a 721 26" and shows 3000 fps with 67 grns of 4350.Can anyone help me clarify if they changed it because of safety? or was this just better data with newer equipment to check loads with? I find it hard to see a 8 grn diff in this being anything but safety, but Im not seeing any signs of pressure at max loads(5 th edition) and wondered if I should try to work up to the 4th edition loads. Im shooting a Rem 721 Mag 300H&H 26" with 1 in 10.
