My reloading for 300 BO subs recently has experienced some improvements. I struggled for previousliy to achieve consistent velocities but have done better recently with single digit SDs for my 7 inch barrel PDW. I had noticed in the past that seating depth appeared to play a greater role in getting consistent velocities than it did with my center rifle reloading. The recent improvements came after reading some posts elsewhere that confirmed the CFE BLK appeared to function better as a compressed load. The posted suggested determining seating depth by using a previously fired case with the approximate charge weight, determining the COAL with the bullet and then going 0.010" deeper. I tried this with GBW brass, CCI 41 primers, and 12.0-12.5 grains of CFE BLk under a 225 gr Hornady match hollow point. The resulting COAL was 2.20 inches and resulted in good SD/ES across the charge weight range with the best giving me 1050 fps and single digit SDs.
Thought I would share and see if others have had similar experience with CFE Blk in 300 BO subs.
