This is how I judge as well. I will also back off if primer pockets are getting loose too early.My reamer has a .225" freebore. Everyone seems to have a different measure of "pressure". I do not care what primers look like or if I have light ejector marks. Those things vary with action and primer choice. I go by bolt lift. If the bolt gets any stiffness, I am at pressure and back off.
I lose primer pockets prior to stiff bolt lift in my rifles, so I don't load to stiff bolts. I have too much time into case prep to toss them or swage down the primer pockets after 3 firings.
