I am looking for load data for the 30-338 Win Mag using 210 Berger VLD. I have a Sierra reloading manual, but it does not have load data for their 210 SMK either. I have been using the data for the 220 SMK for starter loads. I wanted to try Retumbo or H1000, but here again no data in the Sierra manual for either powder.

I played with h-1000 with the 230 Berger in my 30/338 win. Mine is throated to seat the 230 Berger OTM base at the neck / shoulder junction in the case.
I started at 64g h-1000 and worked up to 70g. I gave up on it there as I never found anything that my rifle liked. Top velocity was 2760 fps with an SD of 23 IIRC. However, it just wouldn't tighten up any better than about 4" at 300.
I switched to Norma 217 and worked up from 68g to where I found best accuracy at 76.0g and 2740 fps I never tested anything higher as I'm seeing an SD of 9 fps with the 230 OTM from 234-238g Winchester 338 win brass necked down and fire formed. I'm using winchester large rifle magnum primers.
H4831sc also looked promising, but I didn't finish testing it after I started working with Norma 217 and everything I loaded had an SD <14 fps and grouped better than MOA IN MY RIFLE.
Start no higher than 64.0g H-1000 and work up, there are a ton of different 30/338 win reamers out there!!! My friend's has a tighter neck dimension and shorter leed to the rifling (his is throated to shoot the 178g AMAX) and his rifle topped out nearly four grains less than my rifle. My old 11 twist barrel wouldn't take anything longer than 3.30"
I'd also consider the new temp stabile IMR 4451 or the slower IMR 79xx
30/338 Win is a great chamber, very flexible with useable powder and bullet weights. The new slow and stabile powders really make it shine. I'm on my second barrel and planning to build another rifle so momma will quit stealing mine every time we head to the stand or range.

Mine has always shot well with imr 4350 and H4831 with 180-200gr bullets. Never could get H1000 to shoot as well until I paired it with the 210 Berger and F210 primers. Recently loaded the Hornady 208 ELD-M bullet with the same load of H1000 and discovered that it will shoot to the same point as the Berger to 1000yds:D

Thanks for the replies. I think I will work with IMR 4350. I am still in the finish rifle stage. Just looking for some other options, and more load data for the 210 vld's.

+1

I used my 30/338 win for match shooting 1,000 yards and found the best results in my rifle with a 27.5" barrel was H 4831 and 200 grain Match Kings.

It is a very predictable powder and increases were linear. (Each half grain produced almost the same increase in velocity).

I would also recommend the new H 4831 SC because it measures better.

I also remembered that the 30/338 could use the same loading as the 308 Norma mag. But do not confuse the 308 NM for the 300 Norma because it is a larger case and holds a lot more powder.

The 30/338 win and the 308 Norma mag are almost the same exact same size and I have heard of people shooting both in there rifles "but I don't recommend it".

So lf you can find some loading data for the 308 Norma mag (not the 300 NM)that might help.

Berger has loading data for the 308 Norma Mag and they do mention 30-338mag. With 210gr VLD they used H-4350 and AA4350. I have (2) 30-338mags both have 26" barrels.

First one I had build I'd talk to Fred Hungtington son and he gave me spec/loads and they still hunted with that rifle and that was mid 80's.

One of the 30-338mag been shooting 200gr ELD-X bullet and may hunt with that rifle this year elk tag. Well good luck
