#3 contour for a rem700 BDL stock?

Is a #3 contour okay for a rem 700 BDL factory stock originally chambered in 7mm rem mag? Or, would I lose too much meat from the forearm?

I'd think you should be fine. I just put a 35 Whelen in a factory BDL stock, and it fit just fine - didn't even have to open the barrel channel up on it. I'm pretty sure the Whelen has a #3 contour barrel on it.

was that a factory remington barrel or a custom barrel?

It's a factory barrel, but I'm pretty sure it's close to a #3 contour. I'll measure when I get home today after work. Seems like it was around 0.65" at the muzzle, though. (I was measuring a bunch of them last week trying to decide if I wanted a #2 or a #3 for a sporter build I was starting). I'll post and let you know for sure, though.

I got home and measured; looks like a Douglas #3 contour would fit just fine in a BDL stock. Have to hog out a little around the chamber since the #3 runs bigger longer than the Rem contour, but should leave plenty of meat...
