Hi all.
I'm looking for your personal experiences with the Hornady 285 ELDM, specifically. Not interested in other bullets or other variations of the ELDM.

Has the advertised b/c been accurate? A biggy...how is the bullet to bullet b/c variation? I've looked and haven't seen any radar info on that from a percentage standpoint. Anyone done reduced load testing for minimum expansion? Anyone had good success with these in ELR hunting?
Thank you!
Jesse

To be honest with you, no Hornady bullet has met my strict conditions for ELR, not even the A-max.
I only use custom CNC turned bullets for ELR and I do not hunt at ELR distances, which to me starts at a mile.
I have taken game at 808 metres, have had opportunities at 1100 metres, myself and rifle are capable, but in a slight gusty wind, I passed.

Cheers.

I have had good target success with the 285 bullet. I have not hunted with it due to no need to use a 338 lapua for hunting. ELR hunting to me would be anything over 500 yards, Since that is my limit on big game hunting distance.

I never did have the chance of testing ELR with them with all the 338's I've built (furthest being 1400ish yards), however - BC has been spot on with them from launch velocity 2700-3000 FPS.

Terminal performance was great, sheds weight - very large wound channels. Tipped over a few deer and elk out to 800 yards - all solid work from what you would expect from a thinner jacketed cup n core tipped bullet. Lots of customers run that bullet in the 338 Rogues we built - all good reports (we are the first to hear of the bad ones :) )

I stopped running 338's due to hearing loss and just got sick of the recoil :) All in all, a good combo.
