Will a 270 WSM in a short action be able to fully utilize the 170's? If so what twist rate would you recommend? If not what twist would you go with to shoot the 150's?
Rifle will be built on a Savage short action and either a 22 or 24 inch barrel.
Let me know your thoughts please. 270 WSM will not change. I already have the dies, brass and a couple of suitable powders. And a few projectiles.

I'm worried that I will have to push the 170's too far into the case to feed right in a short action. If that's the case the 150's will be good enough

Built it on, a Tikka Action with, the Long .300 Win Mag. Magazines and a New Bolt stop, 1-8.3 Twist, 24" Brux bbl. IF wanting, 165's -170's.
The 1-10 Twist, Tikka .270 WSM with, Berger 140's going 3,185 FPS, kills Elk like, "the Hammer of, Thor" without,.. ALL, the Recoil, tho.
At,.. "Reasonable Ranges" This Bullet, ( Classic hunter ) was designed for Magazine Length and a fairly high BC ( for a .270 bullet ) is STILL going OVER, 2,000 FPS at, 800 Yards at, 6,000 Ft Elev. IF, launched at, close to 3,200 FPS.
The Load / Bullet, is accurate, too, as I shot, a 5 shot, 5" Ctr/ ctr. group at, 700 Yards on, a NON Windy, Day
