I have liked the 270 Win for years. My first big game rifle was a Ruger 77 in 270 Win.. bought in the early 1980's. That gun would shoot three bullets into less than and inch with factory Federal 130's and it did the same with many of my reloads. If fact I shot so many load in the gun that I shot out the barrel and replaced it with and E.R. Shaw 270 Win. I had so many different gun that I started giving some to my grandsons so I gave that rifle to one of them. After some time I missed the 270 Win so much I bought a Weatherby Vanguard in 270 Win. That gun also shoots very well with the correct load. A few months ago I was in a local gun shop and spotted a Winchester Model 70 featherweight in 270 Win.. I could not get that gun out of my mind until I bought it. It is a used gun in very good condition with a Leupold scope. I am in the process of work up a hunting load and I have found that to my surprise that this Winchester will also shoot. I have to keep my groups to three shot because the barrel heats up so fast. I have shot many 3 shot groups of less that .75 inches. My latest load is 130 Nosler Accubond,58 grains H4831, in Norma case and CCI-200 primers. This is my out to 300 yards hunting load. I forgot to mention that I also bought a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 270 WSM over 10 years ago.
