Anyone load 140 VLD with H1000 for 260 Rem? My build is just about done and I will start reloading soon. Seems like the most popular powder for the 260 is H4350 but its pretty hard to find right now. Barrel is a 24" Criterion with a match chamber (longer throat) and this is a deer hunting rig and occasional steel.

I tried H1000 it is more than acceptable accuracy wise and the min max is like 48-50 gr its compressed in all cases so the 140 vldh will probably take up too much case. I like H4831SC. Is your rifle an 8 twist or a 9 twist? I have not tried the 140vldh in my 1 in 9 twist my 1 in 8 shoots them very well with RL-19 accuracy with H4350 was not great. My 1 in 9 would not stabilize the 129 barnes LRX so the 140 may not work in a 1 in 9 its a little shorter than the 129lrx

The 140 vldh will be good as long as you can load them 2.900 at 2.800 they take up too much case.

That new 135 classic hunter looks really interesting. I'm going to try some of them after the season.

Good luck and shoot straight.

1 in 8 twist built on a Savage long action.

I have a Criterion 24" Heavy sporter 1:8 twist in 260 rem with match chamber using .160 freebore. I use the 140 Hybrid, 46.5 grs. H4831SC, Lapua brass, with Wolf LR primer. Shoots awesome with 2700 fps, and is my LR load. As always work up and watch for pressure.

You may want to take a look at Norma URP. The burn rate is a little slower than H4350. You shouldn't have any problems with capacity issues you can have with the 140g bullets with H4831sc in that case. I'm not saying H4831sc won't work, but there are several other powders that may work better. Norma URP being one of them
