I have always been a Berger shooter but, I wanted to try out some more traditional shooting bullets. I landed on the 260 Hammer Hunter for my 338 Norma Improved. I reached out to RBH on this forum about his experience with his. I started out at 92 grains H1000 and seated them .010 off the lands. Worked up to 94 when I got an ejector mark. Right away I could see that 92 grains at 2985 was going to shoot good. Went out again today and tried seating depth at 300 yards. At .010 off, first three shots went for 1" and the 4th put me at 1.3". The ES of the load was 8 FPS. I have ran the numbers against the 300 grain Berger going 2800. At 800 yards there is a 1.5" wind difference. Very minimal and doubt I can read wind to within 1.5". One big bonus I like is less drop. I have had more issues free hand ranging animals and being off than with wind. I have no doubts these bullets will perform on game very well. I am not going to mess with this load anymore and use it for hunting this year. I'll shoot some groups on paper at 1k next month with some minor changes and see what does best at that distance.

N570 would be to slow. That what I use for 300 grain Bergers and I can't get enough in the case to hit pressure. N565 was a thought, but I have tried it with 300 grain Bergers and it didn't give much more than H1000 or Retumbo. It's a single base powder that doesn't give as much speed. The next node is about 2.5 grains higher and would be running hot reguardless or powder. These bullets do pressure out sooner than lead ones. RL26 could get you some good speeds, but H1000 is such a solid performer.
