257 WBY resizing problem

I have a Ruger #1 with a custom 257 Wby bbl. It shoots very well , but I have a problem when I neck size only using an RCBS Neck Sizer die. I adjusted this die to size the neck fully.
The problem is that the loaded rounds are very difficult and sometimes too hard to chamber. I have tried using the RCBS Full Length die adjusted to neck size about 2/3 of the neck and this works well.
When I examine the rounds that failed to chamber I notice some scuffing around the case just behind the junction of the shoulder and the case body. I don't really have a problem with using the FL die but It seem that the neck sizer should work?

goto Inovative Technologies website and order a sizing die. Then buy a good neck die (Redding or Forster) that uses bushings

Let me know if this works for you. I have been having fits with my 257 weatherby. It is a really tight fit after I full length resize. Sent my dies and some brass in and they said I wasn't setting Fl sizer up correctly and the brass they sent me back(sized in my own sizer) fits perfectly. I set the die up just like they told me and still can't get it to do right. I just got a redding neck sizer but havn't used it yet. I also thought about the Willis die but didn't want to drop the $ on it.

I just don't understand the mechanics of this problem. I can't see how if the case goes all the way into the full length resizing die .it will not fit freely into the rifle especially if it had been fired in the same gun.
I guess ??? that the possible problem with neck sizing in a standard (non bushing non collet) die could be that the brass in the wall of the case is not supported and the thrust against the neck causes it to bulge slightly??? I have not been able to measure any differences but this is not a truly accurate system because I can't locate the micrometer caliper in the exact same location on several cases (before and after neck sizing).
For now I am full length sizing twice, that is i run the case into the die withdraw it rotate in 1/2 turn and resize again "witchcraft?". I then fit each case into the rifle to make sure that it fits before reloading. btw I am shooting Barnes 100Gr tipped triple shock, 67.5 Gr IMR 7828 which gives me 3,470 FPS and groups are averaging 1 MOA for five shots. The rifle is a Ruger #1 with a custom "frozen" 25" barrel, single set trigger in custom composite stock,Leupold 4X12 VX 3.
I really enjoy the shooting and will somehow make the reloading more fun too.

My problem is very similar to yours. For my 7mm x300wsm, my fl resizing die is used on all reloads. however, I have run into a problem with Winchester brass, the brass springs back to the original shape. I full length resize and it pops back over time. Current brass slips into the chamber like slippery glass but after a time it will not chamber the round. I realize that I haven't solved your problem but maybe solving one might solve both. not trying to hijack your thread. Maybe others have similar problems. thanks for bringing it up.

Good to hear from you.
While looking on the net last night I found a related article on the Guns and Ammo website. "What the Instructions Don't Tell You" explains the mechanics of resizing very well and explains why we may have problems with belted cases.

The brass that keeps popping back try sizing then annealing then fl size should take care of the spring in the case. The other might try neck size about 2/3 back could be bumping shoulder and causing it to flare out like a flange. One time I had a 22-250 that I had to file the shell holder down to size it small enough to chamber. Just a guess good luck and let me know if this helps.
