I am going to buy a 243WSSM for hunting Deer and Yotes out west. It currently is not available in the Tika or Savage guns which I would prefer. Can these guns be modified to accept the new cartridge? Any advise would be apreciated.

Jim,

You can use that chambering on a savage short action, by getting an custom barrel, and getting a new bolt face for your action.

Wouldn't the feed rails also need to be modified to accomodate the little fatty?

Can anyone recomend a gunsmith that would be able to make an accurate rifle for me. I would probably be ahead having one built rather than trying to modify an existing gun.

Also, any thoughts on the winchester rifle that the 243 WSSM comes in? Is it accurate enough to shoot as is, or does it need to be modified?

Thanks for the advise!

Call Chris Matthews if you want an accurate rifle built. He did a great job on my recent project.
