Does anyone have any favorite loads using IMR powders? I just got a rifle in this caliber and have a number of types of IMR powder. I'll probably be using 100 gr. bullets right now. Thanks to any replies.

42 gr IMR 4350 with 95/100 gr Nosler Partitions (about 3000 fps in 24" barrel)

Only load I have ever really needed. Another load with AA8700 with the 100 gr shot really well, but 4350 is better.

ditto onthe 42 grs of 4350 however I use the 85 gr sierra hpbt a bit faster according to bbl length . Also , I have played with h4350 at the same powder wt and poi was identical at 100. That 85 gr bullet will empty a foxes innards at 100 or put a lung shot( gotta get both of them) whitetail down in about 3.5 seconds. Been using that combo for 25 yrs and got it from aman that has taaken more game than anyone I know or have read about , his name has been mentioned in some bowhunting publications in the past years as he has gotten older and wanted to try something different , his name is Lawrence Stolzer.

If you have some H414 laying around,

44.5-45 gr of H414 is a sweet combo with the 85 gr Sierras and Nosler Partition.

I have both loaded to 45 gr, but that is a high-max load. I get 3400 fps with the 85 gr NP. I am going to try and take a doe with that combo this season as well as some pigs if the shot presents itself.

243s are a blast to shoot aren't they?

Definitely a blast to shoot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Not too long ago I had mine rebbareled to 243 AI and it is a brand new toy all over again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't shoot to many 100 gr bullets. I have a 26" barrel with a 1:9.125 twist.

For 70gr Ballistic tips, use 45.7 grain IMR-4381, Fed brass, Fed 210M primers.

For 55 gr Ballistic tips use 37.2 IMR-3031 with Fed 210M primers and Rem or Fed brass
