Thinking about trying 80gr TTSX in 240. Anyone worked with this bullet before? Looking for suggestions on powder.
Have tried a little H4831 and Rl22. They both shot pretty good with 95gr. IMR 7828 didn't do to bad with them either just wasn't sure about the lighter bullets.Howdy, I have played with these powders.
IMR.4350
IMR.4831
RL.22 or 23
N.560
I tried RL22 with some 100gr Sierra SBT and they were around 3270 and about 5/8" @ 100yds. Thinking about starting with IMR 4350 for the 80gr. Good luck with the A-tips.IMR.4350 Gave me good group's.
RL.22 gave me speed, for the 90 to 95gr.
I'm working on 110 A-tips presently, Trying H.1000. Next I'm going to try N.560. Start low and work up.
I'm shooting a Weatherby Accumark that has a 24" 10 twist so I'm kinda stuck on trying some bullets. I did try 95gr Classic Hunter and shot the best group so far. The group was right .25 and that was with H4831. Good luck with your project and thanks for the info. That's pretty good speed for 100gr and .6
is a good group. You will be hard pressed to get 3200 from IMR.4350 but your group's should tighten up. I just got my 240 back a couple weeks ago, I had a 26" barrel with 7.5 twist.installed, Still breaking it in, it's consistently makes .3moa. at 100yrd with 108 Berger's and 110 A-tips at 3200fps. Let me know how your doing.
Would like to try the Sciroccos but hard to find.Mine is a Mark-V purchased about 20years ago. I would stay with 95 Classic Hunter. That's what I used to shoot. Or the 90gr Swift Sirocco worked well also.
I also have an older MarkV (one of the original 240s on a full size action) with a new 7.5 twist Krieger just installed. How does yours feed? Mine seems to not want to feed, especially the Bergers. Mine shoots very well, just won't feed like it should. That's pretty good speed for 100gr and .6

My 240 was on an older mark v action as well and I rebarreled it to a 7.5 twist 25-06 then I was having feeding issues as well. I took the metal box out and I pressed both sides in about an 1/8th of an inch towards the front of it about where the case neck would be. It really helped but I'm still tweaking with it trying to make it perfect.I also have an older MarkV (one of the original 240s on a full size action) with a new 7.5 twist Krieger just installed.
