anyone have any experience with loading a 240. Bought a weatherby wilderness two years ago and would like to get it shooting. Got some 80 grain hornady GMX to try. What would be a good powder to go with?

Only had for a short time but really like the 80 grain bullets with H4831SC. I was at 54 grains and about 3350 fps. Start at 52 grains and work up.

R19 worked super well in two .240W for me. I used the older 75x, the 90x and the 90NBT. Standard primers. Its a sweetheart, deer killing machine!

I just know that "if" I were to go and buy another 240W tomorrow, I would get an 8# jug of R19 at the same time! :)

Berger 105 VLD Hunter
Reloder 25 and 4 other powders
Norma brass
S&B primers
Custom Bartlein barrel #3b contour 26", 1:8" twist
McMillan Remington Hunter stock
Jewell trigger
Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x50

All powders are running this combination at about 3330 fps. I've harvested mule deer, whitetail, and Coues deer with this rifle. Yardages ran from 200+ to a tad longer than 600 yards.

Regards.
