Anyone reload for the .240 Weatherby Mag? Would love to hear your thoughts about this Cartridge and performance Bullets, Velocity, accuracy.

Thanks

I sling 95 gr vld and 95gr ballistic tips at 3225 fps. Good accuracy. I really like the cartridge. Could really cool with a fast twist?

Seems like a gimmick round to me. A .30-06 case head size with a belt added to it basically. It seems to be a mini Weatherby for the sake of having a mini Weatherby. If one came across a rifle so chambered it would be neat, but I think 6mm-06 would be much more practical.

I worked up a load for my dad's with 105 Berger vld hunting rl 26 pushing them 3404 fps with a 26" barrel. Super accurate and very flat! I'm not a weatherby or belt fan but it was impressive. I'd agree with the above post and go 6-06 for long action. I have a 6mm Ackley that I love and will basically do the same as the 240.

That is almost exactly what my 6AI does with a 26".

My cousin shoots one for deer and ground hogs. His is very accurate and he rarely misses a shot with it. He runs RL22 or IMR 7828ssc with 105s around 3300fps in a 28" Krieger.

I've owned two .240s and one 6mm/284. I started with the Barnes 90X above 54gr R19. 3500fps and death on coyotes and Axis deer in Texas. I shot the Nosler 90 BT in both the other rifles, again, 54 R19 in the .240 and I have forgotten what powder in the 6x284 (I gave that rifle to my Youth Minister along with my load data notes and I have slept since then. ha)
I have a guy in my church who has used the 240W/Nosler 95PT for decades on muleys and elk, but I forget what powder he told me. Its a great deer/varmint caliber. I have gone from the 240W to the .243, the 6.5x47 ( 222 mag necked up) the 6.5 Bullberry , ( 6mm/30-30 IMP), the 6mm/284 now back to the .243 Winchester ( because its in a Sako Forester I like! I see the .243 as a varmint/deer caliber like the other smaller rounds. The '06 capacity 6mms are just plain wicked on deer!
