New Ruger 223 rem 1 and 9 twist 20' pipe for coyotes need bullet weight & load . All my 223s have been 12 twist till now . always used 55gr and lighter bullets . What works best for this twist. thanks SWIPERgun)

I really like 69gr noslers. I have a load that shoots great out of every rifle I've tried it in. Lights out for Yotes.
1:9 shoots just about everything well.

It is going to depend on amount of wind and range to target. I started with a 55gr Vmax, but after many missed shots in wind at 250+ yards I converted to 75gr HPBT. That was the heaviest / highest BC I could do in my 9.25 twist barrel. The VLD's were out out the question. Down range performance of the 75gr match bullets past 200 yards was impressive. At 300+ yards the energy level is double the 55gr bullet and wind drift is half. The only thing to watch is if you use a 200 yard zero, you will shoot over the back of a coyote that shows up at 100 yards unless you sight low to compensate.

I now have a new 26" 1:8 barrel with a wylde chamber and am working on my 80gr VLD loads. So far it looks like the throat is too short for the 80gr VLDs so I might need some smith work with a reamer to correct it. I just cant load the bullets out long enough to get acceptable powder capacity the way the throat is and I am disappointed since the objective of a wylde chamber is supposed to be a longer throat. But something is wrong with mine...

THANKS WESTCLIFFE Looking at 69gr I'm in North Carolina wind is not much problem here but shoot most of my dogs in grown up pastor land seams like the broom straw and other weeds effect the light bullets. Will try some of the 75 too .what power.gun)

CFE 223 and IMR 8208 XBR are both very good choices for .223 with a wide variety of bullets. I am still in the midst of load development with my 9 twist .223, but it is showing promise with 69 SMK's and 8208 XBR.

If you are just asking about bullets and since you are shooting a Bolt gun its pretty simple. 60gr VMax and if that is not heavy enough go to the 75gr VMax.
If they shoot well from your gun then you will have to look no further.

26.5 grains tac, under a 52 grn amax loaded to nearly mag max length with standard sr primer works in my 16" 1/9 E3 arms just fine with mixed head stamp brass. 9 twist will work on anything up to about 69 grains and usually works fine down to 40 grn bullets. Vmax or amax seem to be the ticket

first time out with the Ruger shot some 52gr nosler BTHP 25 GR H335 .700 @100 YD 52gr nosler BTHP 25GR VARGET gun didn't like every 3rd shot or so it had a flyer .Will try some different stuff next week . maybe IMR 4198 & WIN 748
