It is going to depend on amount of wind and range to target. I started with a 55gr Vmax, but after many missed shots in wind at 250+ yards I converted to 75gr HPBT. That was the heaviest / highest BC I could do in my 9.25 twist barrel. The VLD's were out out the question. Down range performance of the 75gr match bullets past 200 yards was impressive. At 300+ yards the energy level is double the 55gr bullet and wind drift is half. The only thing to watch is if you use a 200 yard zero, you will shoot over the back of a coyote that shows up at 100 yards unless you sight low to compensate.
I now have a new 26" 1:8 barrel with a wylde chamber and am working on my 80gr VLD loads. So far it looks like the throat is too short for the 80gr VLDs so I might need some smith work with a reamer to correct it. I just cant load the bullets out long enough to get acceptable powder capacity the way the throat is and I am disappointed since the objective of a wylde chamber is supposed to be a longer throat. But something is wrong with mine...
