I just purchased a Savage Edge in 22-250, the twist is a 1 in 12". What would be the ideal bullet weight for this rate of twist. The manual is recommending that 40 grain Federal V Shock Nosler Ballistic Tip. I thought the rate is a little fast for a 40 grain pill, I was thinking something closer to 55 grain. If anyone has any experience with the 22-250, Savage Edge, or a factory ammo that would work in this combo please let me know. I am going to shoot factory ammo from this gun, but I am still hoping to get one inch groups at a 100 yards.

A 1/12" twist barrel will let you accurately shoot bullets into the low 60's grain bullets but all of my experience is with barrels with a 1/14" twist. I don't have any experience shooting factory ammo in the 22/250. The 40 grain bullets may shoot well in your rifle but those wouldn't be my first choice of bullet weight as I think they are too light, especially if you are wanting to shoot at longer ranges.

I've had good luck with the Winchester white box 45g stuff in a few rifles.

I have shot from 40g-69g SMK through our 12 twist barrels,I was suprised to see nice round holes with the 69g SMK.

start with a Seirra #1365 bullet over IMR 3031 at about 3500 fps.

I've done some shooting with 60 grain bullets in the 1:12 twist barrels, and I was shooting in the low sixes with them (mostly Hornaday bullets). Now I find out that the Nosler partition is slightly shorter, so that might just be the ticket
