22-250 and 90 Gr bergers

Anyone build a 22-250 with a 1:7 or 1:8 twist barrel and shoot the 90 Gr Berger or other heavy for caliber .224 bullet? If so let me know the specifics. I have a short action that is needing a purpose.

I'm shooting a 224v with 90s,75s and 69s. Not sure if this helps. Im using a 6 twist 24" Hart barrel bored with a standard Manson reamer. The 90s push to 2700 and the 69s to 3250. The 90 SMK likes to be right at the lands. I cannot for the life of me get the 88 ELD to group in any rifle or load combination. I do like the 75gr Hornady BTHP as well. It likes about .020 jump. On the tables the 90s carry supersonic to about 1320 yards. The 75s to 1100yds. In a 22-250 you should be able to beat those velocities significantly. You would have to go at least a 1-7, the 1-8 is off kilter for the Berger's or other long bullets. If I was building from scratch go to 6.5 twist and have your throat cut for the heavy bullet of your choice. The 6.5 twist will handle it all. Don't make your throat too long or too short. Find a good balance for where you want to be seated just shy of your magazine length for easy loading and feeding. It's really fun shooting those heavy bullets out of a tiny bore. They pack a good wallop hitting steel way out there.

I have a remage build that I shoot. 22-250 criterion that 24" long. I'm running the 88gr eld with phenomenal results in a 7 twist. Have collected data on a few powders. I've tried h1000, h4831, h4350, varget, and re16. H4831 was the most accurate at 2932fps and re16 gave the most speed by far @ over 3100fps. Will do more testing with the re16.

My father has a 22-250AI shilen prefit on his savage. He runs the 95 sierra at 3200 fps with rl-26. I know it's not a 22-250 but if you take 150 fps off its gonna be close. He has also run the 75s at 3550 with plenty of room to go

After burning out a 22-250 barrel I decided to build a 260 AI for long range varminting. But I have to admit I'm secretly wishing I got a 22-250 AI barrel instead. The added velocity and decreased trimming would be worth it.

I'd take a look at the 22 Creed for a little more horsepower to push those heavies.

when I was shooting a 22-250 I didn't go as heavy as 90gr because I was only using an 8" twist barrel. I shot 75gr Amaxes at 3200 pushed by R15. Was the easiest rifle to get hits with up to 800 yards or so, of any rifle I have ever had. Would put 5 shots in well under 1/2 MOA at 700 yards. All the ballistic calculators said my 6.5x47 should spank it in the wind, but it sure didn't seem that way!

I've retired the 22-250ai for the 22 needmoor.
Headstamped brass from adg, no fire forming. Ballistic equal to the ai.

Though I am biased against the CM it does make sense IF you want to concentrate on the heavy bullets. But since I have a bunch of brass and would shoot 53gr to 75gr I personally would go with the 22-250 AI and a 1-8 or maybe 1-9 twist.
