Hello, new to this forum. Been on Accurate Shooter for a while. I am lookin at running 215 Bergers in a factory Rem 700 300 win mag. This is a sporter weight rifle that I mainly carry but would like to be able to whitetail at distances of up to 1000 yards. Most areas my teenage boys hunt here in central PA is either densely wooded so those shots are close. And when we do have an area to shoot long it seems as tho it's from or into a cut area and the shots are around 900-1300. We do have knowledge shooting long range just figured I would pick the brains of more hunting minded long range guys.Tell me something I may not know. Thanks

What kinda realistic velocity are guys getting with 215? And what is a realistic ETHICAL range for whitetails with the prior mentioned combo

I'm using N565 in a factory Seekins 300 WM, 215 primers and ADG brass. Without pushing them too hard I are running about 2920 out of the 26" tube.

Thank you for the info. Have you had good luck with performance on game (whitetail sized) at the ranges I have mentioned?

I also get over 2,900 FPS with my 26" barrel. My barrel is throated for the 215 Bergers and I load them to 3.690" COAL. Using a Sako 85 action and the magazine length is 3.700"
I have a sammi spec chamber being it is factory. Not sure what my OAL would be. I am not opposed to having to single feed either to get better performance.

While on the subject of OAL. I don't believe jamming bullets in a hunting rig is a good idea. What are you finding is a good starting place with 215
