I've decided to build a 20BR with the savage 510 I've picked up. What barrel length should I go with to make sure I'm getting decent performance out of the cartridge?

I've been thinking the 14-16" will be fine but would 18" be worth the extra weight. I plan to keep it center grip at this point and a light varmint contour

Mine is a 15 inch barrel, and I shoot a 55 grain Berger at 3173 fps using Varget.
14-16" would be great.
I have shot steel with it past 1000 yards.
This picture was taken at a PRS match about a year and a half ago outside of Sheridan Wyoming. It was kind of fun shooting a single shot XP against rifles😁

Does Berger still make the 55gr in 20 cal?

They still do 1 run a year through Grafs, they have them now.
I run the 55's in my BRAI at 3750
I've tested some custom 46grains for a guy at 4050 all in a 9 twist.

Not sure ive heard 800 - 1000.
I've only got about 200 on mine.
A mod 400 steel from Bartlien i would really consider.

I do know one thing, mine is a laser.
Would be a coyote killing machine with the 55's.
There is a couple guys who shoot the 20BRAI in 600 BR that do pretty well.
I know one guy who shot his at 1,000 BR and it was 3.5"+

25.6" drop at 500 is pretty good, with a 200 yard zero.
29.1 with a 100 and sea level

Don't know...I have 400-500 on mine so far. Only shooting the 55's though...More bullet, slightly less powder.
Mine is a McGowen 8T
I was probably going to have McGowen do mine as well but I am hoping for 1000-1500 rounds of life shooting 40gr Vmax's but may have to get some 55's while they are available.
