I've killed several bucks in the 120's in 30 years of deer hunting but nothing scoring over 125" until this year. I was hunting about 5 hours from home near the Iowa and Illinois borders and got my best buck ever in crazy fashion.
For the first time ever I had forgotten to chamber a round when I sat down and he spooked from the dry fire at 80 yds. As he ran off I chambered a round and stopped him at 150 yds. I hit him poorly as he spun to run and couldn't find any blood that evening. I found blood the next morning and trailed him about 150 yds uphill where I jumped him in his bed and finished him off. He scores 143 6/8 with the broken right brow tine. I figure he would have gone 147 with the tine. Great mass and tine length and a great story to go along with it!
