Good Shooting!!

Kirby, could you de-code this a little? For example,

"225 HAIRFIELD .030, .040 8 MAG TIP Flat $42.00/50"

I'm guessing that means 225 grains. Hairfield is the jacket maker? Jacket thickness is .030? .040 is the meplat diameter? Ogive is 8 caliber tangent? Mag tip--like a filled out with lead hollow point? Flat base?

Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]I hope I can help! The .030 and the .040 means you have a choice between which jacket thickness you want. Mag tip means a protected point. Your right on all your other guesses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I feel a 6mm and a 257 project coming up.

Might have to rethink my 16.5lbs 1000yd BR rifle.

Jerry

At noon today the rate of exchange in Canada was: 1.22 Canadian$= 1 US$ or 1$Canadian=0.8195$US. Of course this varies from day to day sometimes by several %, but it's been near this rate for the last few months so it is a reasonable estimate of what it will be in the near future

Noticed the prices are in canadian dollars, anyone know the conversion for USD.

[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I missed that. Thanks, the prices look even better now!

Thanks 3sixbits.

Jon,

As 3sixbits said, it is 225(Bullet Weight), Hairfield (Jacket Make), .030, .040(Your choice of jacket thickness), 8(ogive profile), MAG TIP(Meplat design), Flat(Base configureation) and finally price of course.

Good Shooting,

Kirby Allen(50)

Jerry,

I can tell you for a fact that the 142 gr ULD RBBT in 257 give up very little to the huge 156 gr as far as B.C. goes. A little but not much. If I were building a 1000 yard bench rifle in 257 caliber it may well be a 25-284 with this bullet.

I prefer the 156 in my Allen Mag but it has alot of horse power and this big bullet tames her down a bit to run smoother.

I have yet to shoot any of Richards 6mm bullets but I suspect they perform every bit as well as his other bullets.

Good Shooting!!

I created WildCat Bullets and did a quick/dirty proto-type. If Richard likes it I'll import the rest of the data. I'm no artist so let me know what is most offensive.

The site will be ultra fast, even with dial-ups (unless you turn on graphics).

I'll add a web service that gets the hourly exchange rate so you have the most current pricing (if you log in it will remeber if you like Yank or Canook $'s )

I'd like to add a compare column so you could compare to Sierra GM or BT, accubond, etc

Hi Big bore. Looks like a good idea. I believe you have some things in the wrong columns though. For example: J4 and Corbin are jacket styles (jacket makers I believe?) and not an ogive shape. "10" and ULD are ogive shapes (I learned what 10 meant just last week). I am sure you have and will have quite a bit if de-buging to do so I am not trying to be critical, just trying to help before you get to far into it.

exactly what I was looking for - thx
I thought ULD was "Ultra Low Drag" ?

HP is Hollow point (right). What column does HP go in?
More pointers please.

.257
100 gr comes in Flat Base or RBBT base (right). It's not flat base and RBBT at the same time(is it?) What is RBBT?

[/ QUOTE ] RBBT= Re-baited Boat-tail and flat base I think means you have a choice between the two bases. One other thing, I doubt that these bullets are Hollow point but instead open point. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

8, 10, and ULD are ogive shapes with the ULD being the longest. Yes, ULD= ultra low drag. some companies also offer a VLD or very low drag which fits between a 10 and an ULD.

HP means hollow point here. He also offers a :Mag tip" which I think (but am not certain) is a polycarbonate tip like the Vmax or balistic tip. These would go in point shape column. As a side note the HP is like a SMK but he will leave the meplat a little bit open if you ask him to for better expansion on varmints if you are like me and want to use your deer hunting round on smaller vermin.

Flat base is just that. A RBBT means "rebated boat tail". This is a boat tail shape that has a major diameter smaller than the diameter of the bullet. Swift has this boat tail shape on some of their bullets. It is supposed to reduce drag by something like 10% over standard BT designs.

J4, Corbin, Hairfield and Alaskan are the jacket makers he uses.

.010, .020 .030 .040. .065 are the jacket thicknesses he buys (I think. Double check me on this as well. I think he told me that he can bond any of the bullets but this roughly doubles the price.

If anyone notices a misunderstanding or a wrong statement on my part please corret me as well as I have only spoken with Richard once for about 20 minutes.
