So I finally got my 16" 6.5 saum together, its built on a Tikka action and throated for the 127 LRX/142 ABLRS.
I shot a few loads with the lrx and H1000 and its shooting 1"groups at 200 yards with a mv of 3025

I have some 142s and worked up to pressure with RL26 hitting 3075!
I had heavy bolt lift, and worked back down to 3015 with very slight pressure signs
After loading the cases 4 times at these max loads I backed off to 2960 and shot this 1/2" group at 200.
The Norma brass is still solid with tight primer pockets after 5 loads so far.

I'm blown away, this is way faster than I'd expected to get with a 16" barrel .
This is mainly a timber rifle that will be used for deer and elk out to 500 so I'm not really chasing max velocity.
Dang though, this thing only weighs 7.9lbs scoped and suppressed and is fast enough to be
a serious LR killer.
Super glad I passed on the 6.5 PRC

Thats amazing. I was hoping to get 3100 out of my 25" proof and 140 elites. has me thinking i should go shorter.

ok so are you seeing any negatives to brass available compared to the 6.5 prc? I mean this is crazy. I was expecting a 26" to get like 2700 max

Yeah its pretty incredible velocity for sure, I'm getting 2850 with H1000.
I was originally going to chamber it in 6.5 prc but I couldn't find brass anywhere for months, and that was pre election..
6.5 saum brass was available at the time from ADG, and Bertram, but I ended up necking down Norma 7 saum brass that I had on hand.

Using 25 fps/in of velocity loss, looks like you are about 100 fps faster than I would expect if I shortened my gun. That doesn't include the RL 26 factor, which I keep hearing is a big help. Very nice.

That's right about where I would have expected it to land with Rl 26, good job!

That's worthy of T-shirt! Sounds like a new slogan for the specialty pistol crowd....
Good idea
I might just have to do that, I'm thinking it'd look good with a dressed out SBR
