130 gr speer hot cor

Speer hot core bullet with no crimp grove as a hinge point just keep expanding and do a lot of damage in an animal.
I shot a ground hog 1 time with a 243 Hot Core 80 Gr. The pig was laying in his hole, He raised his head, I held on his chin. when the gun cracked he disappeared backwards into the hole. When I picked him up I found a lump in his back leg. I found the bullet expanded to about quarter size.
Used 270 130 Gr. Hot Core in 270 Win. on crop damage deer. A broadside shot would blow big holes in off side. All DRT.

Anyone have a load for this bullet in 7MMSTW?
Alliant had the following data for 7mm STW with 130-gr Speer BTSP: 80.1 grains (max load) of Reloder 23 with Fed 215 primer.
Layne Simpson showed 82.0-84.0 grains of IMR 7828 with the same bullet.
And Western powder showed 130-gr Sierra MK with Ramshot Magnum powder showing a maximum of 87.2 grains. All 3 loads used Federal 215 primers.
That's all I could find.

This is the entrance hole on a deer shooting a 125 gr accubond at 3600. Couldn't find the lungs, the stomach exploded even though the bullet hit 8 to 10" from it, and the liver had tears all over it.

I'm assuming you'll see similar results with a Hot core at those velocities.

My family and deer club members has shot the 7mm 130g Speer btsp in 7/08s with amazing results in DRT deer. In my Rem, my load is 42.0g of IMR 4895, Rem case, Rem 9 1/2, velocity in 24" is 3000 fps. Lots of '06 and 308 shooters have made the switch after borrowing my rifle or using this or approximate load.

trying to get gun Jarrett put a barrel on to shoot, it is the worst shooting gun I have ever had since Jarrett put a barrel on. I believe Jarrett screwed up the McMillan stock I had on the gun. I have not tried them yet.

Sorry to hear that…Unusual comment for a Jarrett rifle!
Don't have any… but I e always heard good things about his rifles.
