If this is hunting geared I would want to keep all my shots in the size of the heart. If your talking competition, a good rifle is sub 3" for 5 shots.

The first time I stood at the 1000 yard line and was shown the target, I was sure I was getting pranked.
M1 Garand, 7.62 McCoy conversion (Armory converted/owned), 1/2 minute NM peep sights (and a whole lot younger eyes then).

I appreciate the replies i was just curious im out to 600 yards now with a 3 inch grouping with 3 shots. My steel target is 24 wide and 30 tall. And when a say club i just mean a personal accomplishment.

First shot hit. Just one time.

I'd say just be happy with your grouping at that range. A 2moa target with consistent hits is pretty good in my book for someone who doesn't shoot competitively and practice a lot with compensating and load development

In the old days of the Varmint Hunters Assoc, we could join their "1,000 yd club" with a verified kill on a varmint at or past 1,000. I did two, a coyote (1 shot) and p-dog (2 barely missed 3rd center). Today, we practice on a 10" MOA gong @ 1,000 with a 5" painted center, a steel reactive large P-dog, marmot or other varmint gong, or sometimes, we have a wild hair day and shoot at orange clays.

20-24" gongs for 1 mile, but once used a 19x19"

Here you go, iron sight with a 14, 1000 yards, jacket and sling prone, single loading. Not my best score on that windy range. Shot a 197, could only claim 187, you can guess where the other 10 points, actually an X went.

I'm just now getting started. So frankly, if I could hit the side of a tour bus at 1000, I'd be smiling!
