Saw a comment on here, that Rel17 was harder on barrels. I have noted this in one particular rifle I load for, that being a 280 AI. I use a healthy charge behind 150gn Nosler BT's for 3070fps.

Anyone else noticing premature or faster barrel wear with this powder?

I don't know if you will run into problems with mild of a load 3070 with a 150 should be pretty easy going. Should still get over a 1000 rounds to the barrel pretty easily

The 280 Ackley is line ball with the .30/06 for same bullet weights in same barrel lengths.
If you are getting more velocity than a .30/06, you are very likely pushing the load and brass.

I gave that example as a standard usage for me using R17 as my usage overall has been spread across various cartridges and bullet weights. I am watching my barrel deteriorate in throat wear and monitoring the accuracy, as I have experienced severe accuracy fall off in as little as 70 rounds before a barrel needed changing.

Just looking to see if other handliaders are watching or noting this, even though it may be academic if that powder is not restocked.

How many rounds on the barrel? What is a healthy charge? I've not had any issues in my 280AI with RL-17 or any other powder in my Shilen barrel
