I am in the process of having a 510 Whisper built and trying to find a Stainless fast twist cut rifled 510 barrel was a huge issue...thanks to someone on this forum I was able to get my hands on Brux 9 twist CM barrel that they had squirreled away.

My concern is that living in a humid climate on the gulf coast and running a suppressor rust in the bore/chamber will be an issue. I am torn between having the barrel Cerakoted and just being meticulous about keeping the bore and chamber lubricated or sending it somewhere for salt bath nitride or melonite of some sort, or other treatment. Has anyone had experience with this process, or have any recommendations of places that do this?

you could send it out to be qpq'd. had a client do that on the swampy end of Texas a few years back.

Barricade is my favorite, I spray it on a rag and wipe my guns down

Have you asked Brux for a recommendation?

They know their barrel best and should be able to provide you a sound advice/recommendation.
True. I have not kept up with the coatings/metal treatments but I know some can get to a temperature that can mess with tempering of metal. I also know there are a lot of people that have done it successfully.

I am fine with having to be diligent to clean/protect the rifle but its worth exploring ways to prevent it from happening beforehand.

Use a good oil for the inside, bore and chamber during the non shooting times. Outside of the barrel and action use Renaissance wax, or any quality hard paste wax. Clean it completely removing any residual oil. Then a coat of wax on every metal part exposed to the elements.
I do this to all of my blued and wood guns.
Any gun I refinish has a coat of wax on when I give it back.

I've been using this on my blued rifles, and it seems to last a pretty long time.
