When you do an ad or a response at the bottom left corner there is a box that has a paper clip and says attach files. Click on that and go to your photos library, click on the photo and then click 'upload' and it should appear in your response.
Make sure that your photo isn't the "moving" style. I always have to do a screen shot of mine to make them work.
I have similar issues. Files are too large on newer phone. I use the "crop" feature to make the pictures smaller (less background) and take away that moving feature. That shrinks the file size but keeps the image looking nice.
