Is anyone shooting a 20" barrel smokeless muzzle loader? If so how much velocity do you think you gave up over 24" barrel? I'm currently getting the parts together to put one together. Will mostly be hunting from a blind and would like to run a suppressor in the future. Would like to run 300 gr bullets close to 2300 fps. Would that be doable with 20" barrel?

I was able to get 45 cal 250s up to 2550 fps from a 18" I would think you wouldn't have a problem achieving your goal

Thats a pretty tall order getting 2300 fps with a 300 grain bullet.

I'm getting 2340 fps with the 275gr NSR in a 20" Brux barrel and 60gr of H4198.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I will be running smokeless powder also its a 45cal 1-12 twist barrel. It is a 1.200 contoured barrel so won't be able to push it hard. Planning on keeping it below 55K. IMR 4198, IMR 4227, H335 and H322 I currently have.

I am at 2670 fps with my Arrowhead on a savage with 275 gr bullets and 62gr of H4198 and CCI mag primer. Not a monster but took a decent 8 at 318 yards this year. He came out of creek and turned towards the property line to follow a doe out into cut corn. I had a few seconds to range, did hold over not dope and fire before he went the last 10 yards to exit my land. He took 3 steps, hunched up and went rigid and fell over. The 275 gr bullet had entered between his last two ribs on his right side (quartering away) and the shank exited forward of his left shoulder. All internal organs were turned into jelly.
